Message from the CEO Regarding State Performance Audit

June 11, 2008

As you know, a State Performance Audit has identified areas in which the Port may be vulnerable to fraud. In response to the matters raised in the Audit Report, the Port is taking action to conduct a self-assessment, to learn from this experience, and to emerge as a stronger, more effective organization. One of the mechanisms we have established is an Ethics and Compliance Hotline, which can be reached at (877) 571-5237.

The Port Commission has also created a Special Investigative Committee to follow up on these findings and to report back to the Commission. The Committee has established a separate, targeted Hotline, through which you will be able to discuss any concerns regarding fraudulent activity or vulnerability to fraud directly with independent legal counsel for the Special Investigative Committee. You may reach the Special Investigative Committee Hotline by calling (206) 233-2835. This Hotline will be monitored throughout the duration of the investigation. If you prefer, you may also call the main Port of Seattle Ethics and Compliance Hotline to report your concerns.

Thank you for your support in this process. Together, we can build a stronger Port for our future.
